About

KyCooksThai started with a love of Thai food that was sparked during the year I spent living in Thailand as a Peace Corps Volunteer. During that time, I had the opportunity to immerse myself in the culture, learn all about Thai history and the people, and enjoy an incredible amount of delicious Thai food. I combined that passion with my love of writing to create KyCooksThai, a blog that captured my journey as a Thai enthusiast. This blog served me well for a number of years until it took a backseat to the rest of the adventures life had in store.

Fast forward eight years.

I never really forgot about this blog. It has always been simmering on the back burner just waiting for the right time to be brought back to life. I’ve stubbornly continued to pay for the domain, occasionally brainstorm ideas for new posts, and often think about what this ‘could be’ in the future. During those eight years I also got married (to another Thai-food loving human, thank goodness!), had a son who is quite adventurous with food (also, thank goodness!) and have lived a life full of love and laughter and, not surprisingly, copious amount of Thai food.

About six months ago, we started planning our first family trip back to Thailand and I realized this was the perfect time to bring back KyCooksThai. But at the same time, I also realized that KyCooksThai in its original form just didn’t feel right anymore. I’m not the same person I was eight years ago and, more importantly, the passions conveyed through this blog are no longer just mine.

What once was a solo passion for Thai food and culture is now a family affair. It’s something my husband, son and I enjoy together and truthfully, it isn’t just about Thai food anymore. While that’s at the heart of it and will continue to be a primary focus on the blog, we’re also passionate about travel in general and learning about other cuisine and other cultures … and we want to share it all with you. So, while the name will stay the same, the purpose of KyCooksThai has evolved and we can’t wait for you to join us on the journey as we figure out just what that means.
